Papa once told me that music of the bygone generations was what laid the foundation for what we will hear now and forever. Granted, the man doesn’t like any song recorded past 1979, but even still, that inherited wisdom came from an honest place.
I’m like him now. Living in that lyrical past. Listening to CDs over digital, raving about the albums and vinyls of our yesteryear, while still holding a large amount of respect for musical achievements made during these present times. I’ll agree with the wise man, music isn’t now what it once was, but there’s still plenty of brilliance out there, especially if you turn off the Top 40 station and go out excavating for gems.
