Someone asks: “What are the makings for a best books of all time type book?”

You say: (Feel free to respond in the comments section)

I say: “A book that consumes you from the very first sentence, gets you excited to reopen the cover if you’ve had to step away from it, and gives you the hugest grin ever when the last page turns and the story comes to a close.”

  1. I agree with your post. I think a book which grabs you from the beginning, takes you on a journey and which makes you feel something (not necessarily just for the protagonist/s) is my favourite type of book. ‘Veronika Decides to Die’ by Paulo Coelho did just that for me. I’ve never read ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ either so will look out for an opportunity to read it (and add it to my ever growing stack!)

    1. Ooooh Coelho wrote that??? No way, I’ve heard amazing things. Had no idea he was behind it! The Alchemist is one of my all time favorite reads. And thanks, I’m glad we share a similar perspective on that. It’s not just about words on print, it’s an experience and one that you hope will stick out in your mind for ages to come. Are you a fan of poetry and coming of age stories?

      1. Yeah I read it before I read The Alchemist, which is also a favourite. I have a lot more of his books but I already struggle to find the time to read everything I want to. I am a fan of poetry and try to write some myself. I also like coming of age stories as the conclusions are always so satisfying.
