I’ve learned more from books and flip-side philosophical platitudes than I have from the syllabus administered at the start of each term. Some things can be taught, at the high value gold rush of an established education, it has some benefits sure, but I feel that I’ve outgrown the preaching and become partial to the notion of self-teaching. Ask me about the largest takeaway from an economics class that one semester and I’ll glaze into your eyes with asterisks and swirling stars, but ask me about what literature has moved me the most, and we’ll talk all day, then well into the night.
