She’s Sandy and Her Name is Starfish

You said that we were all just grains of sand.

Bits of beach dust that make up a much larger landscape.

I’ve found it easier to get a read on a person who associates herself and her actions with the ways of the sea.

Before you, I only knew city blocks and fire hydrants.

Stores on every corner and outside strangers that yelled about nothing deep into the night.

It’s hard to remember what life was like back then, but I’m sure I could always pull a file from the archives room if I cared to reminisce.
